Home town drivers head for National Final

Blackpool Transport Services is congratulating those of its driving team who have qualified for this year’s UK Bus Driver of the Year National Final.

Having fought off other talented members of the team who provided stiff competition in a local contest held by the company the two successful drivers are Christian Williams and Mark Whitehead.

Organised by the operator’s training team, the local competition consisted of a theory test and some specially laid out driving manoeuvres which closely replicated those that they will face in the National Final

Christian was crowned the Blackpool Transport Driver of the Year 2026, while Mark was runner up.

They will now represent the company in their own town when the National Final takes place on 6^th September on Blackpool’s Middle Walk where a total of 104 drivers from operators throughout the UK compete for the prestigious accolade of UK Bus Driver of the Year 2026.
